Participants will engage in practical exercises to refine their AI prompting skills and explore the potential benefits and limitations of AI across various aspects of their work. We will cover the importance of critical thinking when using AI, understanding regulatory oversight, and ensuring that AI tools are used within their intended scope.

Learning Objectives: 

  • AI Tool Mastery: Learn to effectively use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Elicit to streamline workflows and improve productivity. Understand how to select the appropriate tool for specific tasks.
  • Example Applications: Explore practical applications, including drafting emails, creating personalized patient education materials, job applications, performance reviews, NDIS and DVA applications, writing clinical procedures, and marketing. Emphasize privacy and the importance of not sharing personal or audiological data.

Masterclass 3: Exploring options and outcomes for SSD, Asymmetric and Complex Mixed Hearing Loss

Overview: To build up clinical knowledge by introducing Micro Suction under Direct Vision as a safe, simple and effective way to remove Ear Wax. Ear wax removal is a common procedure performed by many General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners. Historically, treatment has typically been via a “wet” method such as syringing or flushing the ear. Today, however, the preferred ear wax removal method used by ENT Specialists, Audiologists and an increasing number of GP’s is manual ear wax removal using Micro-suction or Curettage techniques, under the direct vision of a VorOtek O Scope as it is viewed as a safer and more effective technique.

Masterclass 8: Listening Difficulties Despite a Normal Audiogram

Overview: This masterclass will comprise short presentations by sector experts explaining key reasons why adults may perceive themselves to have listening difficulties despite having hearing in the typical range. Following this, participants with take part in a problem-based learning activity wherein they collaborate in small groups to discuss and address real-life clinical scenarios, to determine the reason for the problem, propose appropriate diagnostic and care plans, and learn how each client is progressing over time. The details of the scenarios will be released in stages, to mimic the clinical experience and a sense of closure.

Navigating Research Success: Skills and Strategies for PhD students and Early Career Researchers

Overview: This workshop will provide attendees with essential tools to enhance their research impact, build collaborations, and effectively navigate the academic landscape. Activities include writing a funding proposal, developing a research impact strategy, and creating a personal career roadmap. This workshop will also delve into challenges unique to early career researchers such as publishing strategies and funding opportunities and look ahead at what it takes to become a leader in your field.

  • Identify key strategies for increasing visibility and impact of your research within and beyond academia
  • Develop a personalised plan for securing funding and managing research grants
  • Identify the skills and strategies needed to transition from early career researcher to a leader in your field
