Second Year Master Students in Audiology
Barbara Skurr was a founding member of Audiology Australia, as well as the first female president when elected in January 1971. Barbara worked in hospitals in Sydney for many years, with stints in Singapore and Indonesia. Her early journal articles about binaural hearing & hearing aid use and speech discrimination helped pave the way for a greater understanding of how hearing aids can benefit people with hearing loss.
The Barbara Skurr Scholarship was established as an innovative program to support and encourage attendance at the biennial Audiology Australia national conference by students enrolled in Australian masters in audiology programs.
The AudA Conference is a highlight of the Audiology Australia’s CPD Event calendar. For students studying audiology, it is an ideal introduction to scientific research and education. This is also often the first opportunity for students to meet and network with colleagues from different centres within Australia.
